In the past ** years I have worked as a professional stage hand, scenic designer, corporate communications technician, audio visual specialist in the meetings and conventions industry, banquet manager, conference facility manager, and area director for a national audiovisual production and service corporation. From grand opera to national corporate events to weddings and anniversaries, I've had the privilege of working behind the scenes to insure those events happened the way they were supposed to happen.

I shot my first wedding in **** because it offered a change in routine from my corporate meetings and conventions routines. When I went through the editing process I realized video was the best way to present the extraordinary range of emotions & activities of a wedding celebration. That wedding changed the way I thought about video and live events.

Recording a live event on video is, I think, film making done backwards. There is no script or carefully thought-out shooting schedule, just a one-shot opportunity to capture unrehearsed spontaneous emotions. The telling of that story is the result of sensitive editing based upon the content of the recorded video. The key to a quality live event video is knowing how to tell stories visually, followed by technical skill, quality equipment, careful planning and knowing where to be at the right time. Not all videographers have (or need) this discipline. I believe I am one that does.
